Rush Limbaugh, Dead At 70: Many Will Miss Him

I was surprised to hear this morning on Fox News that Rush Limbaugh had pass away. I have pasted in a Fox News article about him below.

I am retired now, have been for a few years. But when I was working steady, I always had the radio on and it was usually tuned in to Rush from 11am to 2pm. He was always the best conservative commentator. I know, he acted boastful and overly confident in the truth of what he was saying, but that was part of his charm and the way he would make you believe in what he was saying. Toward the end of his life he was still as confident as ever, but his compassion for his audience and for America really came out. I will miss him.

Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk radio pioneer, dead at 70

Rush Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed talk radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping shape the modern-day Republican Party, died Wednesday morning at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced.

Limbaugh’s wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show. “Losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life,” she said. “Rush will forever be the greatest of all time.”

The radio icon learned he had Stage IV lung cancer in January 2020 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by then-President Trump at the State of the Union address days later. First lady Melania Trump then presented America’s highest civilian honor to Limbaugh in an emotional moment on the heels of his devastating cancer diagnosis.

“Rush Limbaugh: Thank you for your decades of tireless devotion to our country,” President Trump said during the address. He told Fox News on Wednesday afternoon: “There aren’t too many legends around, but he is a legend.”

It was not clear exactly where Limbaugh died. He frequently broadcast his show from his home studio in Palm Beach, Fla.

Limbaugh is considered one of the most influential media figures in American history and has played a consequential role in conservative politics since “The Rush Limbaugh Show” began in 1988. Perched behind his Golden EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) Microphone, Limbaugh spent over three decades as arguably both the most beloved and polarizing person in American media.

The program that began 33 years ago on national syndication with only 56 radio stations grew to be the most listened-to radio show in the United States, airing on more than 600 stations, according to the show’s website. Up to 27 million people tuned in on a weekly basis and Limbaugh has lovingly referred to his passionate fan base as “Dittoheads,” as they would often say “ditto” when agreeing with the iconic radio host.

In his final radio broadcast of 2020, Limbaugh thanked his listeners and supporters, revealing at the time that he had outlived his prognosis.

“I wasn’t expected to be alive today,” he said. “I wasn’t expected to make it to October, and then to November, and then to December. And yet, here I am, and today, got some problems, but I’m feeling pretty good today.”

Limbaugh helped boost Trump’s influence prior to the 2016 election simply by taking him seriously as a candidate when other established conservatives didn’t want the former reality television star anywhere near the Republican Party. Many of Limbaugh’s listeners eventually became Trump supporters and the radio legend continued to defend Trump throughout his presidency despite occasional disagreements.

In the heat of the 2020 presidential election, Limbaugh hosted Trump in October for what was an unprecedented two-hour “radio rally”, during which the president was virtually given control of the coveted golden microphone to answer questions from the host and his listeners.

Limbaugh, born in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Jan. 12, 1951, began his radio career in 1967 as a “helper” when he was only 16 years old. He eventually graduated to disk jockey and worked at a small station roughly 100 miles south of St. Louis while attending high school.

“I was totally consumed,” Limbaugh told the New York Times in 1990, noting that his idol was a Chicago radio host named Larry Lujack. By 1971, Limbaugh was a morning radio host in Pittsburgh, where he was oddly told to cover a certain amount of “farm news” because the area was surrounded by many agriculture communities. In 2007 he explained to listeners how the young radio host managed to keep listeners despite the bizarre requirement.

“The last thing that the audience of my show cares about is farm news. If farm news came on, bam! They pushed the button and go somewhere else. So, we had to figure out, ‘Okay, how do we do this and protect the license?’ So I turned the farm news every day into a funny bit with farm sound effects and the roosters crowing and so forth, and I’d make fun of the stockyard feed prices or whatever it was, so that we could say, ‘We’re doing barn news,’ agriculture news. There was all kinds of things like that,” Limbaugh told listeners.

The tidbit offered a glimpse into Limbaugh’s early days, proving that he was a master of keeping audiences engaged from a young age. Limbaugh has said he realized America was the “greatest country ever” when taking trips to Europe and Asia in his late 20s and early 30s, an experience that helped shape his political views.

How the Cold Winds Praise the Lord

8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds; story wind, fulfilling His word…13 Let them praise the name of the Lord. (Ps. 148:8, 13)

I pondered this morning how God’s creation praises the name of the Lord (in Psalms 148). Much of the creation, like the snow and the cold winds have no will of their own. So how does it praise Him? I think the answer is in verse 8. It obeys His word. It fulfills the Lord’s will.

In the last couple days ice, wind and snow froze up Texas windmills, shutting down much of Texas.

Frozen wind turbines hamper Texas power output, state’s electric grid operator says

Nearly half of Texas’ installed wind power generation capacity has been offline because of frozen wind turbines in West Texas, according to Texas grid operators. Wind farms across the state generate up to a combined 25,100 megawatts of energy. But unusually moist winter conditions in West Texas brought on by the weekend’s freezing rain and historically low temperatures have iced many of those wind turbines to a halt.

I have a feeling that God is displeased with the Green new deal and with Biden and Kerry. I think He is telling us, “Look, I gave you oil and you shut it off. The oil is good. Use it. Use what I give you. Stop with the windmills. It’s a bad idea.”

The Obedience of Abiding

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer A to Z

Abiding is not just meditating on His Word and delighting in Him, and not just focusing on trying to bear fruit. It involves the action of complete obedience.  The whole reason why we meditate on His Word is so that we can do everything He wants us to do.

The abiding, obedient Christian embraces the following ideas:

  • That obedience must include Bible study. If we want to obey God we must know what He wants us to do. Therefore, obedience must include Bible study to find out what His will is.  Then the next step of course is to obey that will.
  • That obedience must be your lifestyle. Real obedience, that is, real abiding obedience is not just a once in a while thing. It must be your lifestyle—a continual obedience.

If you put these two ideas together it will keep you abiding in Him and you will…

Those Who Call Evil Good and Good Evil – From Isaiah 5:20

I have gotten in the habit reading a newspaper in the morning. I mainly enjoy reading the comics (I have my favorite ones) and maybe an article in the sports section. I always try to glean some bit of truth from the front-page news articles, but I most always go away with nothing. And I am more and more convinced that whatever they declare is true is a lie. Yes, that is the formula: whatever they say is true is a lie; and whatever they say is a lie is true. If we stick to that rule we can’t go wrong. That is the rule for these last days. Isaiah 5:20-21 and 23, says it this way:

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;

Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;

Who substitute bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,

And clever in their own sight! …

23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe,

And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right! (bold for emphasis)

Thank God what is coming in the future; the 144,000 Jewish witnesses, who will be declaring the truth during the Tribulation. In the midst of a world that is filled with lies and deception—coming from the teaching of the Antichrist, will be these truth-tellers who will provide a way for millions to hear the truth of the gospel to be saved. Revelation 14:4-5 describes them.

These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless.

Today I think that many hardly recognize truth from what is false. The two are somewhat blended together, especially for those who don’t read their bible. But soon, after the church is raptured and after the 144,00 witnesses appear, the contrast will be remarkable. You will hear both the truth and a lie very clearly. And you will be able to choose which side you want to take. If you (who have been left behind—not raptured) choose the way of truth declared by the witnesses, you will most assuredly suffer and die (under the government of the Antichrist). But if you choose the way of lies and deception, which will allow you to be clothed and fed (because you chose to receive the mark of the beast), then you will live—at least for a few years. But in the end, you will be judged by God and cast into hell. It will be your choice.

But keep in mind that if you choose the way of truth, though you will die as a martyr, you will be resurrected in glory to live eternally with God. The way of truth, though painful at first, will reap eternal life.

Has the Church Replaced Israel? The Definition and origin of Replacement Theology

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStudying Bible Prophecy

replace

Has the church really replaced Israel or have they remained two distinct groups?

In previous posts we have brought to light in Daniel 9:24, that the seventy weeks have been decreed “for your people.”  We have said that “your people” means Daniel’s people, the Jews.  Therefore, this firmly establishes the fact that the Tribulation period, which is the seventieth week, is meant only for Israel.

But some have insisted that the church has now become Israel; and so, for them, this changes everything.

Well, this is just not true!  In this post we will bring to light this error of reasoning that the church has now replaced Israel.

THE ERROR OF REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY

The definition of replacement theology.  Kenneth Gentry, one of its leaders, defines it this way: “We believe that the international church has superseded for all times national Israel as the institution for the administration of divine blessing to the…

The Focus of Abiding

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer A to Z

The focus of the abiding Christian is to bear fruit—that is, to bring forth in his life all the good things of God. Thus, when he abides, in his spirit (or in his attitude) he is filled with the fruit of the Spirit, which is “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, [and] self-control” (Gal. 5:22).  Likewise, when he abides, in his behavior he does what is righteous to the praise of God (Phil. 1:11; Heb. 13:15).

Fruit is also new converts. Therefore, the abiding Christian will naturally share his faith with others, and those whom he leads to faith in God will be the evident fruit (Rom. 1:13).

The reason why the abiding Christian focuses on bearing fruit, and why we all should focus on bearing fruit is because that is what God has appointed us for. He has said to us in John 15:16, “You did…

A Little Sick Political Humor

From my newspaper: Saint Paul Pioneer Press

It is kind of funny. If it wasn’t for these comic strips we would go crazy with grief. Kerry is ridiculously stupid and arrogant to think that making or selling or installing solar panels will compare to the good jobs that were taken from them.

The Seventieth Week — from Daniel 9:27: The Tribulation

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStudying Bible Prophecy

 four horses

This verse (Daniel 9:27) encapsulates the focus of the seventieth week, which will be a time of great evil known at the tribulation period.

We have been studying Daniel 9:25-27.  In these three verses is the timeline of the entire seventy week period (490 years), referred to in verse 24.  Last time we looked at verse 26.   We will pick up our study now in verse 27.

And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.

From this verse, the holy church of Christ has just departed in the rapture and only unbelievers are left.  But in…

My Pillow Guy Being Shut Down for Revealing the Truth About Voter Fraud

Mike Lindell, the My Pillow guy, has put together a presentation to show you absolute proof that the 2020 presidential election was stolen by election fraud—that involved other countries. And he has done it at a high price. Many of the companies that were sponsoring him have shut his My Pillow ads down. Even his My Pillow web site has been shut down.

If you have any doubts about whether the election was stolen or not, you may want to click on Mike Lindell’s ‘Absolute Proof’ Video to see and hear this presentation at https://michaeljlindell.com/

The presentation is put on by various cyber forensic experts, and very professionally done. You will see…

  • The typical ways that fraud was committed by voting twice, dead people voting, etc. Then you will see how most of the fraudulent votes in key counties were accomplished: they were flipped by voting machines.
  • All the manipulation of votes came from foreign countries. Yes, foreign countries, like China, were hacked into our voting machines and were changing or cancelling the votes.
  • You will hear how there were only two cases where fraudulent evidence was heard by judges (and they are looking at the evidence now).
  • You will hear that from inside our own government people were involved in shutting down any investigations. It was a coup by people inside and by other countries. Our FBI did nothing except to harass our own people who were reporting cases of fraud.
  • You will hear and see much more. The presentation is over an hour long.
