We Fail in Prayer When We Don’t Pray God’s Way

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer A to Z

Failure is a tough word. We may not like the idea that we can fail in prayer. But when we don’t pray God’s way and when we don’t allow the Holy Spirit to help us pray, that guarantees that we will fail in prayer. Here are seven ways many Christians will fail in prayer.

God’s way – We don’t pray God’s way.  You will definitely fail in prayer if you insist on praying your own way instead of God’s way.  We all naturally tend to pray to impress others.  God wants us to pray, however, not to impress anyone or to show them how righteous we are, but simply to receive from Him what we need and what He desires to give us.

Jesus has instructed us to pray in this way: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come Your will be done on…

Personalities in the Tribulation: The Antichrist – Part 1

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStudying Bible Prophecy

The Antichrist is a prominent figure and the leader of all the evil that goes on in the Tribulation. Our information about him comes from three different biblical books: Daniel, 2 Thessalonians, and Revelation.

His origin and source of power

First, from Revelation 13:1 and 17:8-13, we see his origin as a beast that has seven heads and ten horns. This description is, of course, symbolic of a terrible and evil person, and who has his beginning from seven world kingdoms: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and a revived Rome; he being the king or leader of the seventh kingdom. (If you want a more detailed explanation of his seven heads read Revelation 17:9-13.)

As for his source of power, there is no doubt that God alone gives him power as His instrument to bring His wrath on the earth, both to persuade people to believe in Him and…

Failure in Prayer – Part 1

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer A to Z

Failure in prayer I think is mainly due to our failure in getting to prayer—because of our laziness and lack of discipline. But there can also be a failure in prayer even when we are disciplined to pray—because we just don’t know how to pray effectively. In the next four blogs (parts) I will bring to you 26 ideas (in alphabetical order) on why prayers fail (fail to receive answers). Today it will be A through F.

Authority – Prayers fail when we don’t pray with authority.  If you have gone to prayer, and your prayers have not been answered, it may be because you are not abiding in Christ, nor are you executing the authority He has given you in Him.  Do these things and you will be able to resist the devil in faith as you use the Word of God with power in all your praying.

Personalities in the Tribulation: Satan

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStudying Bible Prophecy

In my study of the Tribulation, I found references to Satan in four different chapters of Revelation: chapter twelve, thirteen, sixteen, and twenty. And I found twenty-four references to Satan with four different names: Satan (4 ref.), the devil (4 ref.), the serpent (3 ref.), and the dragon ((13 ref.). We will begin our study of Satan, mainly as a dragon, from chapter twelve. (I will limit this study of Satan to just the time of the Tribulation.)

Satan the great dragon, chapter twelve

Most of the information about Satan is in this chapter. It covers the sad history of Satan and what his evil plans are during the Tribulation.

From verses 3-5. Here Satan is portrayed as a large red dragon having seven heads and ten horns and with seven crowns on his heads. His depiction as a dragon helps us to see Satan’s cruel and horrible character, and…

Personalities in the Tribulation: Israel – Part 2

Stephen Nielsen's avatarStudying Bible Prophecy

The nation of Israel and the Israelite people are probably the most important of all in our list of personalities; for the seventh week (the Tribulation) has been decreed for the people of Israel (Dan. 9:24), to prepare them for their Messiah by Tribulation. Here is part 1.

4. Israel flees to the mountains. When the first half of the Tribulation ends, right at the mid-point, the Antichrist will be revealed for who he really is, as his restraints to do evil will be removed. The sign of the beginning of his evil doings is when the Jews see “the abomination of desolation” standing in the Jewish temple. This may be the Antichrist himself displaying himself as being God (2 Thess. 2:4), or it could be his image that the false prophet sets up (Rev. 13:15). Nonetheless, I think they will see this abomination for what it is, and…

FAILURE IN PRAYER—10 Reasons Why We Fail In Getting To Prayer

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer A to Z

There are many areas of failure in getting to prayer.  And so I have done my best to point out some of those areas.  I have found ten different areas of failure; and I have outlined them with the acrostic P-R-A-Y-E-R-L-E-S-S.  I hope this acrostic will help you to remember them.

# 1 – Priority.  We don’t give prayer the proper priority.  The reason of course is that we fail to see the importance of prayer.  Perhaps we haven’t come into a close relationship with God yet, and we don’t enjoy spending time with Him.  Also it may be because we are lazy; we lack discipline; and we don’t take the time to set our alarm clock a little earlier, so we have time to pray in the morning.  Basically, it is just selfishness and sin.

# 2 – Rest.  We aren’t resting in faith.  A…

3 prayer requests for an effective witness

Stephen Nielsen's avatarPrayer A to Z

There is no need for any Christian to worry about whether his witness will be effective. Pray these three things and trust the Lord to do His work.

For the Holy Spirit to continue His work long after your witness.  If the Holy Spirit has led you with boldness to witness to someone, you can believe that He has also been ministering to that person—that is, all along the way He has been preparing that person’s heart to hear the gospel.  Bit by bit He has been liberating that one’s mind and heart from the power of Satan; He has been helping them to see their own lostness, to see that time is short, and to see God’s love.

Let me urge you to keep praying for that lost one. Pray that throughout your witness and even after you witness, that the Holy Spirit would continue His ministry…
